Donor Refund and Privacy Policy

If you have made an error in making your donation, the Foundation will honor requests for a refund within 15 business days.

To request a refund, contact 1-800-275-3832.

Refunds are returned using the original method of payment, except cash donations, which are returned via check. Donations made via credit card will be refunded to the same credit card.

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption-Canada is committed to respecting the privacy of its donors.

Types of information collected and maintained include:

1. Contact information (name, address, phone number and email address)
2. Giving information
3. Events attended, publications received and special requests for information
4. Individual giving and communication preferences
5. Comments and suggestions provided
6. Research to identify affinities, capacity and propensity to support the Foundation’s mission

The Foundation uses donors’ information to understand interests, steward support and provide updates from the Foundation. Information is shared with staff, board members, volunteers and consultants only on a need-to-know basis.

The Foundation protects all personal information with password protected safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. Donor information is not sold or rented, but may be shared with select third parties. Donors can contact the Foundation to opt-out of sharing their information with third parties.

Safeguards protect personal information against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification, regardless of the format in which the information is held.

The Foundation informs employees and volunteers of the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of personal information, and exercises care in the disposal or destruction of this information to prevent unauthorized parties from gaining access.
