Wendy’s Raises $96,000 at Its 10th Annual Golf Tournament Benefiting Foster Care Adoption

On May 27, 2009, Wendy’s Restaurants of Canada held its 10th annual golf tournament benefiting the cause of foster care adoption in Canada and raising $96,000 for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption Canada. These funds were raised through golf sponsorships, prize and cash donations, raffle sales and a silent auction.

Through the continued generosity and support of Wendy's franchisees, suppliers, corporate employees and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption Canada has made tremendous achievements, including:
  • The development and growth of Wendy's Wonderful Kids in Canada. Wendy's Wonderful Kids is a signature program of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and provides funds for dedicated adoption professionals in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Nova Scotia to move children from foster care into permanent, loving, adoptive homes. Learn more about Wendy's Wonderful Kids.
  • Publication of A Child is Waiting: A Step-By-Step Guide to Adoption with thousands of copies sent to the public on request.
  • Building awareness of adoption needs in Canada, using the funds raised at the Wendy’s Classic.
The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption Canada was formed in 2003 to help raise awareness of Canada’s waiting children and to bridge the gap between the children who so desperately need love and support and the thousands of families who want to adopt. There are approximately 78,000 children in foster care in Canada and about 30,000 of those are waiting for loving homes. The Foundation is dedicated to helping these children by supporting programs that will dramatically increase the number of adoptions from foster care.

Thank you to Rattlesnake Point Golf Course, in Milton, Ontario, for hosting the tournament.
